Stroke FAST Campaign
Currently, NZ have about 9000 strokes per year and a high number of these stroke victims unfortunately die from the stroke. 50,000 people live with the consequences of stroke.
FAST campaign is to raise awareness that stroke is always a medical emergency. To help people know the signs, and to urge people to act if they see any signs of a stroke by calling 111 immediately.
FAST stands for:
Face – Is their face drooping on one side?
Arm – Is one arm weak?
Speech – Is their speech jumbled, slurred or lost?
Time – Time to call 111.
